LAST YEAR'S WALK-A-THON...YOUR EFFORTS MAKE A DIFFERENCE TO PEOPLE LIVING WITH AUTISM! The proceeds from the 2008 walk helped the autism community in the following ways:
- Provided summer camp scholarships to children living with autism to attend the Mt. Hood Kiwanis/Oral Hull Camp and the Autistic Children's Activity Program (ACAP)
- Provided funds for ASO to conduct a 3 city seminar series on Puberty & Sexuality for people living with Autism Spectrum Disorder
- Helped to launch a Grandparents Support Group called GAINS in Multnomah and Washington Counties!
And where will a portion of the 2009 proceeds go? Here are some programs which your participation in this event will support:
- Continue with scholarship support for summer camps that specialize in activities for people with autism.
- The Take a Break on ASO respite care program for families
- The Wrightslaw Conference in October 2009
- The many support groups around the state we host for parents, girls living with autism, siblings and grandparents
- Swimming scholarships in Washington County
Thank you for helping us meet these goals and continue to support the autism community in Oregon.
